Superintendent Dr. Valya S. Lee

Superintendent Dr. Valya S. Lee is a veteran educator who is quickly becoming a familiar face in the Twiggs County community. Her prior educational experiences include serving as a central level administrator in two Georgia school systems.  In addition to serving as an Assistant Superintendent, a Chief of Staff, and an Interim Superintendent in a  metro Atlanta school district,  Dr. Lee has also served at the university level, as a professor and also in a supervisory capacity over teacher education.

With a well-documented, proven track record of successful executive management, Dr. Lee will lead the Twiggs County Public School District towards achievement and recognition as a world-class school system. Her exceptional leadership skills will raise the academic bar for Twiggs County Public Schools by having high expectations for staff and students along with  full engagement of all school system stakeholders. Through innovation and creativity, both the district's operations and academic programs will be greatly advanced. Dr. Lee's dedication and fortitude will implement and further develop the district's strategic plan and current initiatives as well as strengthen the future of the system.

Equipped with the necessary skills for developing and directing high-performing executive teams, continuous systemic improvement will be evidenced. Having a demonstrated ability to serve as a primary ambassador for a school system, Dr. Lee will improve parental and community involvement and promote pride in our schools. A strong commitment to the values of public education is her pledge to the children of Twiggs County Public Schools and to the Twiggs County community at large.

Innate gifts such as recognizing the need for fair and consistent placement of students, along with a willingness to listen to parents, will help when addressing needs of special students. Dr. Lee will also utilize these abilities when addressing the caregivers and teachers responsible for the safety, health and education needs of this group. Dr. Lee's Educational Experiences include:

1. A Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Spelman College
2. A Master's Degree in Middle Grades Education from West Georgia College and University
3. An Education Specialist's Degree in Administration and Supervision from Troy State University and
4. A Doctorate Degree in Educational Leadership from Argosy University

All stakeholder groups, students, parents, community members, employees, and educational associations are benefiting from Dr. Valya Lee's excellent communication skills. Reaching out, listening reflectively and effectively establishing dialogue to open channels of communication are standard practices for Dr. Lee.
